Jenepher Parry Davies

The Home of. . .

Jenepher was born into a closeknit family for whom music and dance has always assumed great importance. She traces her Celtic heritage to the Clann Deibhiosdan, [its Chief is Gillichattan MorO'Gualav, great servant of St Catan], through her father whose name is a variant of the patronymic, Davidson and through her mother, a Mahan, a family name often found in the County Galway.

Her singing teacher at kindergarten wrote 'very good, Jenepher loves this subject'. Nothing’s changed! When she was seven, she was  crowned ‘Princess Buttercup’ singing ‘You are my sunshine’ a capella at a carnival, passed ballet exams and gained medals for elocution from the age of eight. She was awarded an Erasmus scholarship to Ollscoil Lùimnigh in 2006 where, under the direction of Professor Mikhàil O’Suilliabhàn in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, she was tutored on whistle by Niall Keegan, in vocals and bodhràn in the Sèan Nos style and Traditional Irish Set dance by Sandra Joyce, and at a Blàs summer school at UL in 2009 under Muireànn Nic Amhlaoibh.
